Grateful for Water On Exhibit at the IMAS January 14 - April 26, 2026 mcallenpublicutility The Grateful for Water art contest is an annual initiative hosted by McAllen Public Utility’s Water Education Team, designed specifically for high school students who live in McAllen. The contest encourages students to explore the value of water in their daily lives, reflecting on its importance in our community, environment, and future. Participants are challenged to express their creativity while considering the role water plays in sustaining life and the responsibility we all share to conserve this vital resource. 2025 marked the third year of MPU hosting this contest, which featured an impressive array of paintings and drawings from students across the city. The theme this past year was “Clean Water, Clean Future.” Each piece highlights water and its beauty, significance, and the importance of smart water usage, offering unique perspectives and creative interpretations of the theme. The students’ artwork provides viewers with an engaging and meaningful visual experience. The winning and participating artworks are proudly displayed in this exhibit as a celebration of creativity, education, and environmental stewardship. Through this contest, McAllen Public Utility aims to inspire a deeper appreciation for water among our city’s youth and encourage them to become thoughtful stewards of this essential resource. We are grateful to all the students who participated and hope their work motivates the community to reflect on the importance of water in daily life. https://theimasonline.org/grateful-for-water/ #mcallenpublicworks #ExploreIMAS #mcallen #mcallentx
