His most recent album Kartucho carries layered meanings in Bogotá. It can refer to the white flower that symbolizes purity—commonly used in both weddings and funerals—but also to the now-extinct “Calle del Cartucho” in the Santa Inés neighborhood, once known for extreme poverty and drug trafficking. Musically, Kartucho merges punk energy with traditional rhythms like bambuco and pasillo, while also incorporating influences from house and bass. These genres intersect with the triplet-based rhythms typical of the Andean and Boyacá regions, resulting in an album that is both raw and introspective.
